Kenya Gura AA is a select coffee from the Nyeri region, one of the most renowned coffee regions in all of Africa. It is made up of the traditional Kenyan varieties SL28 and SL34, which are known for their distinctive flavor potential. After harvesting, the coffee is processed at the Gura Wetmill station, located on the banks of the river of the same name. It is part of the Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society, which brings together 19 producers and over 500 small farmers. Gura lies between the eastern slopes of the Aberdare Mountains and the western slopes of Mt. Kenya. Thanks to the high altitude (1,700–1,890 m above sea level), volcanic soil, and regular rainfall, coffees with exceptionally bright acidity, fruity character, and complexity are produced here.
At the Gura Wetmill processing station, the coffee undergoes a traditional fully washed process, which is typical for Kenya. After the fresh cherries are received , they are fermented and thoroughly washed in clean water. The beans are then dried on raised African beds, where they are regularly turned to ensure even drying. This process emphasizes the purity and clarity of flavors, resulting in a cup with a distinctive aroma, fresh fruitiness, and delicate texture.
