Forget your preconceptions about bland Brazilian coffee and prepare yourself for a cup that will amaze you with its purity and structure. Sítio Três Barras #2 is an elegant lot with a high cupping score of 88 points, offering an unusually sweet and fruity profile. The flavor is dominated by juicy plums and red grapes, accompanied by honey sweetness and unique notes of sugar melon. The whole experience is rounded off with a sinfully good taste of liqueur and plum jam with a subtle hint of cocoa. This is a coffee for those who seek fullness and syrupiness in a cup, but at the same time crave a modern, sparkling, and rich character.

Behind this gem is producer Manassés Sampaio Dias, who continues a tradition dating back to the 1950s on his family farm in the Mogiana Paulista region (town of Divinolândia) . The Sítio Três Barras farm is located at an altitude of around 1,300 meters above sea level, which is an excellent location for growing specialty coffee by Brazilian standards. Manassés focuses on regenerative agriculture and limiting the use of agrochemicals, and his coffees regularly appear in competitions. This lot of the Obatã variety is the result of hand harvesting and maximum care for every detail, which is reflected in its exceptional stability and quality.

The resulting character of the coffee is defined by precise natural (dry) processing. After harvesting, the whole cherries were spread out on raised African beds, where they underwent a very slow and controlled drying process. It is this process that gives the beans their renowned density and distinctive sweetness reminiscent of dark fruit jams. Thanks to the slow drying process, the coffee retains clear floral tones and a long, elegant aftertaste. The result is a coffee that is incredibly balanced and shows how exciting and modern contemporary Brazilian production can be under the guidance of an experienced farmer.

For that price, it deserves a high rating.
The flavor profile suits the V60.
Did it taste like Milky Cake from DAK on the Aeropress?
