Bolivia Floripondio from the Czech roastery Doubleshot is an elegant filter coffee from Bolivia that will delight all lovers of sweet and fruity coffees with a delicate floral aroma. The aroma evokes a blooming garden, and the flavor gradually unfolds with sweet notes of forest fruits, brown sugar, and caramel. The cup is complemented by a creamy body and pleasant citrus acidity, which adds freshness and juiciness to the coffee. The result is a harmonious and very well-balanced coffee that truly shines, especially when brewed as a pour-over.
The coffee comes from the model farm Floripondio in the Samaipata area of the Santa Cruz de la Sierra region in Bolivia. The farm is owned by the Rodriguez family, who are among the pioneers of specialty coffee in Bolivia and have long been experimenting with various varieties and processing methods. The farm’s name refers to a plant called “angel’s trumpets” —ornamental flowers that grow naturally in this area and give the place its unique atmosphere. Today, the farm grows more than 50 different coffee varieties, resulting in a diverse range of flavor profiles.
This particular lot consists of the Bourbon variety, which was processed using the honey method. After harvesting, the skin is removed from the coffee cherries, but some of the sweet pulp remains on the bean. The beans are then fermented for approximately 48 hours in stainless steel tanks and subsequently dried on African beds. It is this method that gives the coffee its characteristic sweetness, creamy body, and complex fruity character, which beautifully blends delicate floral aromas with sweet notes of fruit and caramel in the cup.
