VAJRA from the Australian roastery Black Mass Roasters is a blend designed for your daily coffee ritual. In the cup, you’ll find notes of strawberry, apricot jam, and the so-called “fruit of longevity”— honeysuckle. The profile is fresh, fruity, and floral all at once, with a pleasant lightness that you’ll enjoy both as a black espresso and with milk.
VAJRA coffee is composed of two Ethiopian lots that Black Mass Roasters selects seasonally as the best that the African harvest of that year has to offer. The first 40% consists of naturally processed coffee from the Yirgacheffe region, specifically from the Idido station in Rachia, made from JARC and local Heirloom varieties. The remaining 60% comes from washed coffee from farmer Bisrat Melaku in the village of Chebega in the Guji region, also from Heirloom varieties. The combination of natural (dry) and washed processing gives the blend its distinctive character. You’ll enjoy the fruity sweetness of the natural process and the clarity and body of the washed method.
The blend’s composition is adjusted each season to reflect what the current harvest has to offer. The roasters at Black Mass Roasters work directly with producers and importers, which allows them to maintain a consistent flavor profile while preserving the best of each lot. VAJRA is therefore not a fixed recipe, but rather an annual celebration of African coffee at its best, showcasing the finest offerings of the season. Cheers!
