Rwanda Gitwe from Father’s Coffee is a filter coffee that proves sweetness can be delicate, fruity, and beautifully tea-like all at once. In the cup, notes of peach, linden blossom, physalis, and black tea come together to create a soft, elegant, and pleasantly sweet profile. Thanks to the honey process, the coffee has a fuller, slightly syrupy body and feels smooth from the very first sip.
The beans come from Rwanda, from the Gitwe station in the Karambi region. This is a Red Bourbon variety, which ripens slowly under local conditions, resulting in a deeper sweetness and more pronounced fruity character in the bean. Gitwe is a place where coffee is not just a crop, but a shared labor, tradition, and source of pride for the entire community. More than 90% of the team here consists of women who participate in the careful selection and processing of the cherries. It is precisely this emphasis on manual labor and attention to detail that manifests in the cup as clarity, sweetness, and an elegant character.
Processing is done using the honey method, in which the skin is removed from the ripe cherries, but some of the sweet pulp remains on the bean during drying. This gives the coffee a more pronounced sweetness, fuller body, and a delicately syrupy texture, without losing its clarity and distinctiveness. Each cherry undergoes careful sorting, fermentation, and subsequent drying on African beds to highlight its complexity and stability. The result is a coffee that combines fruity delicacy, floral elegance, and a sweet tea-like finish in one very pleasant cup.
