This elegant coffee from Peru, roasted by Prodigal Coffee, showcases the Geisha variety in all its glory. Anaerobic washed processing gives the cup clarity and depth, combining notes of apricot, orange, and vanilla, complemented by a delicate floral character reminiscent of Earl Grey. The overall impression is smooth and creamy, with hints of ripe mango, pleasant sweetness, and a balanced structure that is very refined and has a long finish.

This is La Rinconada, which ranked 20th in the Cup of Excellence Peru 2025 competition. Earning a place in the top 30 after rigorous evaluation by domestic and international judges is a huge achievement. The high prices obtained in the auction process provide farmers with the resources they need to invest in their operations and quality of life. The coffees awarded in this competition are among the most exceptional lots, and this lot is also the last of the 2025 competition season. The owner of the farm and grower of this exceptional coffee is Roberto Carlos Palomino Flores, who has been growing coffee since 2018. The plantation is planted exclusively with the Geisha variety, and the first harvest came two years after its establishment, in 2020.

During processing, only the ripest coffee cherries were picked, which, after resting for 24 hours, were passed through a huller to remove the skin and pulp. The beans with pulp residuewere then anaerobicallyfermented in GrainPro bags for 48 hours to facilitate the separation of the remaining pulp. After fermentation, the coffee was thoroughly washed with water to remove residual sugars and then dried for fourteen to sixteen days, mainly in the sun on concrete surfaces or raised beds, or using mechanical dryers in case of unsuitable weather conditions. The result is anaerobically washed coffee with a clean flavor profile, higher acidity, and distinct fruity notes.
