Clean, light, and highly aromatic—that’s thisPanamanian Geisha from the Norwegian masters at Coffea Circulor. In the cup, notes of apricot, dandelion, and vanilla come together, complemented by a honey-orange aroma and a lingering finish with hints of gooseberry and orange. The acidity is moderately high, reminiscent of orange and apple freshness, while the body is light and juicy. Overall, the coffee comes across as bright, elegant, and very open, with a profile built on delicacy, floral notes, and sweet fruitiness without any unnecessary heaviness.

The coffee comes from Panama, from the Alto Quiel region in Boquete, Chiriquí, and is produced by Chevas Coffee Estate. José Luis Chevas joined the family business at the age of eighteen, inspired by his grandfather’s work. The farm’s origins date back to the 1970s, when Luis Victor Chevas purchased his first plot of land in Alto Chiquero, and the farm gradually expanded to include El Salto and Alto Quiel. Today, José manages the estate alongside Adrian Villarreal, winner of the 2020 Panama Barista Championship. The coffee grows at an altitude of around 1,500 meters above sea level, and the variety used is Geisha.

The processing method is washed. This lot underwent traditional drying for 15 days on raised screens until it reached a target moisture content of 11%. The process is designed to preserve the purity and delicacy of the Geisha while enhancing its sweetness and aromatic profile. The result is a light-bodied pour-over with juicy acidity and a precise flavor profile, where notes of apricot, vanilla, dandelion, and citrus come together to create a very elegant cup.

Sweet and smooth coffee
A nice, light, and even roast
A peculiar artificial apricot flavor—I would prefer a more natural expression of fruitiness
