The Kenya Regional Smallholder Blend from Rocket Bean Roastery is a juicy and bold filter coffee that showcases the best of its Kenyan origin. In the cup , notes of blackcurrant jam, chocolate cookies, and fresh pomelo intertwine. The result is a complex and lively profile with typical Kenyan fruitiness, pleasant sweetness, and a citrusy sparkle in the aftertaste. This coffee is ideal for anyone who enjoys intense yet elegant brews with a rich character.
The coffee comes from small-scale regional farmers in Kenya who farm at altitudes ranging from 1,450 to 1,900 meters above sea level. It is precisely the combination of high altitude, volcanic red soil, and a stable climate that gives the local coffees their unmistakable depth of flavor and distinctive acidity. The coffee was harvested during the fly-crop season between June and August 2025. The blend consists of four iconic Kenyan varieties— SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian. The SL28 and SL34 varieties are renowned for their juiciness, bright acidity, and complex fruit profile. Ruiru 11 adds a fuller body and notes of dried fruit and chocolate, while the more modern Batian combines the elegance of older varieties with greater resilience and consistent quality.
Processing is done using the washed method, which highlights the purity of flavors and the precise expression of individual notes. After harvest, the cherries are pulped, fermented, washed, and then dried on raised beds in Africa. This results in a cup that is transparent, bright, and layered— ranging from dark berry notes through citrusy freshness to a sweet, biscuity finish. An excellent choice for V60, Chemex, AeroPress, and batch brew, where the liveliness and richness of the typical Kenyan profile truly shine.
