We still have to wait a little longer for Christmas, but what we don't have to wait for is Christmas Kenya from Nordbeans. When you open this bag, you feel as if reindeer bells are jingling at the door. Rodolfina is a festive guide who serves sparkle and lightness instead of cookies. Red currants, juicy lime, and fragrant orange peel meet in your cup. And because every festive fairy tale has two heroes, she is accompanied by her espresso partnerRodolfo—two forms of one winter mood, each with its own distinctive style, or more precisely, "reindeer" style

This lot is grown in the hilly Nyeri region (Central Region) beneath the majestic Mount Kenya as part of the Rutuma A. Farmers Cooperative Society, which brings together thousands of small growers. Rodolfina comes from the Kariru farm and grows at an altitude of around 1,800 meters above sea level. The local slopes are made up of volcanic soils, which, together with abundant rainfall and water from mountain springs, create a stable environment for the slow ripening of coffee cherries. Growers here work with the SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian, and the cooperative operates a network of wet mills and has long been known for its emphasis on quality and transparency. The tradition of coffee cultivation in Nyeri is closely tied to the communities—shared processing stations, common practices, and uniform control rules give rise to lots that accurately reflect their place of origin.

In the washed method, after harvesting the cherries, the pulp is first removed with water, followed by a controlled fermentation step and thorough washing. The beans are then dried on African beds, where airflow and regular turning maintain an even drying process. This process requires sufficient clean water and careful control at every stage, from sorting to final drying. The result is a precisely processed Kenyan coffee that will be particularly appreciated by filter coffee lovers at home, who are looking for the honest work of small farmers under Mount Kenya.

Cool. Despite initial failures, I drank my way through the bag by the end. It didn't blow me away, but definitely above-average beans with something going on.
Like Kenya, it has a slight vegetal note.
