Kenya Nandi Hills from the Romanian roaster Guido Coffee is a truly unique and refreshing coffee that will captivate you from the very first sip with its extraordinary juiciness, sparkling clarity, and complex flavor profile. The light roast, ideal for filter brewing, fully brings out the typical and vibrant Kenyan acidity, which is masterfully balanced by an intense natural sweetness. In the cup, you can look forward to distinctive and refreshing citrus notes of ripe pomelo, which seamlessly transition into the flavor of sweet and juicy wild blueberries. The overall impression is rounded out by a velvety and textured finish reminiscent of a delicate lime cream.
This coffee originates from one of Kenya’s most fertile coffee-growing regions, the picturesque mountainous area of the Nandi Hills. The beans come from the Great Rift Coffee farm. The rich volcanic soil here, combined with the ideal high-altitude climate, creates perfect conditions for the slow development of coffee cherries. Thanks to the farm’s meticulous agricultural practices and ideal terroir, the coffee beans develop high density and a rich aromatic profile, which manifests in the cup as exceptional depth and variety of flavors.
In terms of botanical origin, this is a balanced blend of the Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties. However, the true rarity of this lot lies in its processing. While Kenya is renowned worldwide almost exclusively for its washed process, this coffee underwent classic dry processing. Whole coffee cherries were slowly dried directly in the sun, allowing the beans to absorb all the natural sugars from the fruit’s pulp. This less common process has given the coffee an exceptionally full body, rich sweetness, and a dense aromatic profile, which, combined with Kenya’s natural juiciness, creates an absolutely unforgettable experience.
