Kenya Miroroma AA from Nordbeans is the pure essence of the Kenyan terroir from the eastern slopes of the Aberdare Mountains. In the cup, sweet honey, juicy cherry, and dark forest fruits reminiscent of blackberries meet, all underscored by a higher, sparkling acidity. Its medium body and distinctly fruity character make this coffee a great choice for filter brewing – whether you prepare it in a V60, Aeropress, French press, Chemex, or as a batch brew.
The coffee comes from the Muranga region in central Kenya, where it ripens at an altitude of around 1,800 meters above sea level. The harvest is tended by around 950 small farmers who grow coffee on smaller "shambas" alongside tea, avocados, bananas, and macadamias. Processing is carried out by the Miroroma station under the Kanyenya-ini Farmers Cooperative Society, which has been bringing together local growers since 1997 and helping them to improve quality and agricultural know-how. An interesting fact is the frequent grafting of the Ruiru 11 variety onto the strong roots of SL varieties, which brings farmers a more stable yield even in more demanding conditions while preserving the typical Kenyan flavor profile.
Miroroma AA is a washed lot of SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties, with an emphasis on the purity of the resulting cup. Carefully hand-picked cherries are first stripped of their skin and pulp, then thoroughly washed in clean water and slowly dried for several days on African raised beds. This precise process brings out the natural character of the beans – sweetness and fresh fruitiness.
