Guatemala Lampocoy from Pražírna Krok is a coffee that captivates with its harmony and balance, thanks to its typical Guatemalan flavors, which it retains while also offering a subtle fruity note. In the cup, you will find fresh notes of stone fruit (peaches and apricots) intertwined with sweet nuances of milk chocolate and delicate floral aromas. The coffee has a full, velvety body with a pleasant medium acidity reminiscent of ripe stone fruits and a long, chocolatey finish. This lot is a great choice for anyone who likes a balanced cup with elegant fruity and chocolate notes.
The coffee comes from the Nuevo Oriente region, specifically from the village of Lampocoy, located at an altitude of 1,200-1,700 meters above sea level. The region is known for its geological diversity—the soil is rich in volcanic basalt and minerals, which gives the coffee a distinctive depth and complexity. The humid and stable climate slows down the ripening of the cherries, resulting in slower maturation, which ensures density and a rich flavor. The coffee is grown here by small farmers on small plots of land ranging from 1 to 5 hectares, mostly indigenous to the area. Coffee trees grow in natural conditions that are ideal for producing high-quality coffee, even though the area was isolated for a long time and its coffee was not known on the world market. In recent years, thanks to investments in processing stations and training for farmers, Lampocoy is slowly becoming synonymous with high-quality Guatemalan coffee.
This coffee, which includes the Caturra, Bourbon, Catuai, and Typica varieties, is processed using the traditional washed method, where the cherries are hand-picked, hulled, and fermented in water tanks for 12–24 hours. After fermentation, they are dried on African beds or concrete terraces. Due to the humid climate, drying is slower, which contributes to the fullness and stability of the flavor. This process emphasizes the purity and balance of the coffee, giving the resulting cup a delicate fruity, floral note with a chocolate sweetness. Guatemala Lampocoy is a coffee that perfectly demonstrates the treasures hidden in the lesser-known regions of Guatemala.
