El Morito Guatemala Washed Pacamara by April Coffee Roasters is a Guatemalan light-roast espresso with a clean, sweet, and zesty citrus profile. In the cup , nougat, grapefruit, and citrus notes come together, giving the coffee a sweet, fresh, and pleasantly juicy character. The sweetness and body are medium, while the acidity is more pronounced, giving the espresso a bright, energetic character. It’s a coffee that doesn’t feel heavy, yet still has plenty of body and structure. An espresso for moments when you want something fresh, well-defined, and at the same time rounded thanks to its delicate nougat sweetness.

The coffee comes from Guatemala, from the Jalapa region, specifically the El Morito farm near the small village of Morales. Jose Roberto Monterroso Pineda is behind the production. The farm lies at an elevation of 1,400 to 2,300 meters, and of its total area of 672 hectares, 98 hectares are dedicated to coffee. The rest is surrounded by natural forest, which gives the place its distinctive character. El Morito works with multiple varieties but primarily selects those that thrive in the local climate and conditions. This lot consists of Red Pacamara, which delivers a more pronounced profile and specific acidity here.

Processing is done using the washed method. After harvest, the coffee cherries are pulped to separate the skin and most of the pulp from the beans. Subsequent fermentation helps remove the remaining sweet layer that stays on the beans; the coffee is then washed with clean water and dried to the desired moisture content. The washed processing promotes clarity, precision, and a more transparent structure in the cup. This Pacamara lot does not have a heavy fermented profile, but rather a bright espresso with room for freshness, medium body, and elegant sweetness.
