Ethiopia GOTITI from LOT Roastery is a coffee that rides a wave of fresh citrus notes. Orange, grapefruit, and cranberry bring juiciness and a pleasant sparkle, while black tea softens the entire profile and gives it a lighter, cleaner character. It’s a pour-over that’s fresh, fragrant, and dangerously easy to drink. And if you enjoy lighter, fruity espressos, feel free to brew it in an espresso machine as well.
The coffee comes from the village of Gotiti in the Gedeb region, one of Ethiopia’s most famous coffee-growing areas. Coffee trees of the 74110 and 74112 varieties grow here at an altitude of approximately 2,150 to 2,200 meters above sea level under the natural shade of local trees and enset, also known as false banana. The processing is handled by Ephtah Specialty Coffee, which has a long-standing partnership with local farmers and pays close attention to quality and hand-sorting. An important part of their work is also supporting the women who are involved in the final inspection and sorting of the coffee cherries.
The coffee is processed using the washed method. After harvest, only ripe cherries are selected; these undergo sorting, fermentation, and subsequent washing. The coffee is then dried for approximately 12 to 15 days on elevated African drying beds and finally undergoes a manual inspection. It is precisely this washed processing that beautifully brings out the citrus freshness, tea-like lightness, and clarity of the entire cup. In the finish, a delicate honeyed sweetness and a hint of cream soda are added, which pleasantly round out the entire coffee and leave a long, sweet aftertaste.
