Costa Rica Jorge Vasquez is a coffee that tastes as pure as if it had been filtered through mountain springs. And that's not far from the truth. This omni roast brings an elegant balance to the cup between the sweetness of cane sugar, the juiciness of green apple, and a delicate floral touch of orange blossom. The flavor is round, harmonious, and yet still fun—like a summer walk among citrus trees with a piece of caramel in your pocket. Prolog once again presents one of its carefully selected treasures from Costa Rica—a washed Red Catuai from the Tarrazú region from a farmer who has been a guarantee of quality for five years.
Behind this coffee is Jorge Vasquéz Ureña – the face and driving force behind the Roble Negro processing station, located at an altitude of 1,875 meters above sea level. Jorge is not only the station manager, but also its largest cherry supplier. Our collaboration with him began in 2020, and since then, our partnership has grown into a friendship. The Prolog team has visited Roble Negro three times, and Jorge and his team even traveled to Copenhagen to taste the results of their work directly from the cup. And they have a lot to be proud of – each harvest is a commitment to the land, the people, and the coffee itself.
Roble Negro is an example of how precision can be combined with responsibility – the washed method is used with an emphasis on sustainability and the purity of the final profile. The farm is located at the transition between the Pacific coast and the Central Valley, surrounded by forests and natural springs that provide ideal conditions for coffee. The washed processing brings out the coffee's delicacy and structure – it is bright, elegant, and very drinkable. It's no wonder that Prolog is happy to return to it for the fifth time. This Costa Rica is not just another washed coffee. It is the result of trust, care, and the joy of good cooperation.
