Washed Finca El Turpial from Hydrangea Coffee is a beautiful example of what the Gesha variety can achieve in Colombia’s high-altitude conditions. This pour-over coffee captivates above all with its purity, elegance, and distinctive aroma. In the cup, delicate floral notes of hibiscus blend with the fresh acidity of lime and the sweet juiciness of nectarine. The resulting profile is light, lively, and very harmonious. Thanks to the washed processing method, individual flavors stand out with exceptional precision, and the coffee offers a clean, transparent profile with a long and refreshing aftertaste. It is the ideal choice for lovers of delicate, complex, and distinctly terroir-driven pour-over coffees.

The coffee comes from the Finca El Turpial farm in Colombia’s Nariño region, one of the highest-altitude growing areas in the country. The producer is Emerson Felipe Narvaez, who grows the Gesha variety here at an elevation of approximately 2,780 meters above sea level. This high altitude creates ideal conditions for the slow ripening of coffee cherries, allowing delicate aromatic compounds and a more pronounced sweetness to develop. The Gesha variety is known for its exceptional flavor potential, and it is precisely the combination of this variety with the unique environment of the Nariño region that gives rise to an elegant and complex coffee with a distinctive character.

The beans were processed using the washed method, which is among the cleanest ways to process coffee. After harvest, the pulp is removed from the cherries, and the beans then undergo fermentation and thorough washing to remove any remaining fruit layer. This brings the variety’s inherent character and origin to the forefront without the significant influence of the pulp. The washed processing of this Gesha beautifully highlights its floral aroma, fresh citrus acidity, and the juiciness of stone fruits, allowing its clean, elegant, and precisely defined flavor profile to shine through. The result is a premium coffee that fully showcases the potential of the Gesha variety and its high-altitude origin in the Nariño region.
