The SNAP™ 29 Brewer is a pour-over brewer for those who want a little more control over their brew. Unlike standard drippers, which rely primarily on gravity, it incorporates active movement into the extraction process. A spring-loaded mechanism allows you to make a brief, controlled movement of the entire dripper during brewing. This helps release trapped gas, redistribute the water within the coffee bed, and level its surface. In addition to grind size, water temperature, and pour technique, you gain another variable to work with when fine-tuning your recipe.
Behind SNAP is Cosmin Mihailov of Bandit Coffee in Bucharest, who drew on 18 years of coffee experience in its development. The development process itself took 14 months and included computer simulations of fluid flow, practical testing, and sensory evaluation. The result is a patented system designed in Romania and manufactured in Europe. The mechanism can be activated, for example, after blooming or between individual pours. It does not replace precise pouring, but it allows for better control over flow rate, water-to-coffee contact, and extraction uniformity.
SNAP features a 58° angle and works best with SIBARIST × SNAP paper filters, which were developed specifically for this dripper. Classic conical filters can also be used. The set includes a tool to shape the filter to fit the dripper’s walls.
To get started, the manufacturer recommends 15 g of coffee per 240 to 250 g of water at a temperature of 92 to 96 °C, using a medium to medium-coarse grind. SNAP thus offers plenty of room for experimentation, while remaining simple enough to become a regular part of your daily pour-over routine.
