Sprout Coffee Roasters

Sprout Coffee Roasters is a Dutch roastery that stands out most for its unconventional design, its passionate love of coffee, and the philosophy it brings to both coffee and its work. 

Sprout was founded in 2019 by Daniell and Ruben, two brothers. Although they were born here in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, they were raised on the other side of the world in Perth, Australia. There, they ran an espresso bar, but they returned to their hometown, rich in experience and love for coffee, to open their second café—and roastery. In addition to their love of coffee, they share a sense of humor, a fondness for beer, and a commitment to hard work. They strive to preserve the value that farmers have invested in their coffee during cultivation and to create the most sustainable coffee production system possible. They treat green coffee with love, respect, and reverence for the craft. They help fellow baristas create the best coffee so that everyone who tastes it will fall in love with it just as much as they have.

The name Sprout (meaning to sprout or grow) is very symbolic to them. As they write: “It’s an exciting time when a coffee plant sprouts. It’s the beginning of something new, the beginning of growth—which is what we live for here at the roastery. We strive to incorporate this idea into everything we do, and through that, create better coffee and continually grow...” The beautiful design of the coffee packaging also holds its own symbolism. “Every country, culture, and coffee has its own uniqueness and characteristics. We try to convey that through the artwork on the packaging. Since coffee comes from nature, we chose animals to embody each unique environment from which the coffee originates. The background and surrounding colors simply highlight the most significant aspects of each country.”
