Franco Huaches Montalvan owns a 6.5-hectare farm near the village of Chirinos in Cajamarca. Franco grows Caturra, Gesha, and Marshell varieties and processes the coffee on site. This year , Franco Huaches placed second in the Cup of Excellence competition with a lot of washed Gesha coffee that scored 90.68 points. Franco would like to use the reputation he has gained in the competition to draw attention to the difficulties faced by local growers, such as the spread of leaf rust and low purchase prices.
These beans were processed using the dry (natural) method. With this method, the beans are dried with their husks immediately after harvesting, which allows them to retain their sweetness and distinctive fruity character. Slow and careful drying under the Andean sun creates a depth of flavor and complexity that will captivate you from the very first sip. La Lucuma Marshell Natural is not just coffee – it is a story of a place, people, and a way of working that it embodies.
