In the cup, this coffee immediately captivates with its exceptionally juicy and clean profile, in which fresh notes of apple, sweet ripe peach, and rich forest fruits harmoniously intertwine. A very elegant floral hint of lavender softens and elevates the entire tasting experience. The profile is characterized by a pleasant natural sweetness, beautifully structured acidity, and a long, smooth finish. Its lightness and clarity will delight and surprise you with every sip as the coffee gradually cools in your cup.

The beans come from the Gatuya Coffee Factory washing station, operated by the renowned New Murarandia Farmers Cooperative Society. This cooperative brings together approximately 3, 500 smallholder farmers who cultivate their crops on small family farms situated on the western slopes of the majestic Aberdare Mountains. The fertile red volcanic soil, cooler high-altitude climate, and elevation of around 1, 850 meters above sea level create the perfect environment for growing specialty coffee. This lot combines the traditional Kenyan staple varieties SL28 and SL34 with the newer varieties Batian and Ruiru 11, bringing exceptional richness, complexity, excellent structure, and depth of flavor to the cup.

This entire coffee lot was processed using the classic and meticulously controlled washed method, which fully highlights the purity of the terroir and the region’s typical character. Local farmers deliver freshly harvested and hand-selected ripe cherries to the processing station immediately after harvest. After hulling and controlled fermentation, the beans are thoroughly washed in clean water and then slowly dried under the Kenyan sun on elevated African drying beds. This meticulous process reliably preserves all the beans’ freshness, fruitiness, and purity, resulting in a technically flawless and unforgettable coffee experience when brewed with a filter.
