Kenya IBUTITI ESTATE from Lucky Cat Coffee is an SL 34 variety coffee that captivates with its juiciness, sweetness, and lively character. The flavor blends distinct notes of mirabelle plums, delicate aromas of chamomile, blackcurrant, and apricot, complemented by hints of forest fruits and honey and floral undertones. This cup offers a complex and harmonious experience full of life and freshness, ideal for filter coffee lovers looking for a balanced and interesting flavor.
The coffee comes from the Ibutiti Estate farm in the Kiria-ini, Gatanga and Muranga County region of Kenya, run by Mercy Wambui Gatuhi. The farm is located at an altitude of 1,750 to 1,800 meters above sea level and is known for its quality and awards in prestigious competitions. Mercy is a symbol of perseverance and community spirit, which is reflected in her care for the farm and the coffee. SL 34 is a variety with exceptional cup quality, although it is susceptible to certain diseases, making it very challenging to grow successfully. Its history dates back to the 1930s, when it was first selected for research.
The coffee is processed using the washed method with great emphasis on precision. The cherries are hand-picked at optimal ripeness and then carefully sorted in the drying room. This is followed by overnight fermentation, thorough washing, and drying on raised beds under strict supervision until the beans are perfectly dry. This meticulous processing gives the coffee a clean, juicy, and sweet profile that stands out in every cup and confirms the uniqueness of the farm and the variety.
