About Alchymista

In 1998, the artist Kateřina Ebelová founded the Alchymista Cukrarna at Prague's Letná and the same year she founded the coffee roastery bearing the same name. At the beginning of the company's existence, Věra Světlíková and her son Jaroslav roasted coffee, and since 2009 Jaroslav has continued alone. The roastery is located in a small village in northern Bohemia, roasting about 300 kg of coffee per month for several different customers.

The choice of green beans for the Alchymista roastery is provided by Kateřina, Patricia's daughter and her husband Petr, and they have picked up from the work of Katerina and Jaroslav.  Each bag is manually weighed, labelled and sealed. The production is really small and family-run. The labels that you will find on the bags of coffee are drawn by Patricia herself and she has them printed for the confectionery in the graphic studio VOALA in Letná.

Jaroslav roasts the coffee on a PROBAT roaster, five kilos of green coffee beans at a time. No computer, no curves, just the ear, smell and sight of an experienced roaster. The taste of the coffee that Patricia and Petr choose for the patisserie should transport you to a pleasant day in the blooming garden and its aroma to the romantic era of the First Republic.
