About Chroast

Chroast is a Czech specialty coffee roaster in Hradec Králové.

"We would like you to experience the feeling when roasted coffee pours out of the drum. At that moment, we realize that the long life cycle of a coffee bean is coming to an end. That we are part of a chain that begins somewhere on the slopes of African or South American mountains, affects the lives of many people who often never taste the results of their hard work, and ends up in the cups of those for whom coffee is a love, a passion, and an integral part of life. We want to do our job as best we can, we want to constantly learn and improve, we want to take the work of all those before us to the next level and bring joy to all of you who come after us."

From the beginning, it was planned that the roastery would include an espresso bar, which is now a reality. People can chat about coffee, have it ground, or taste it right there. There are no coffee preparation courses here, but they take a personal approach to each customer. They explain and demonstrate various coffee preparation techniques, from the latest technologies to alternative approaches, and also help train café staff.

The visual style and design of the distinctive beetle logo were created by the Upupaepop studio. And why this icon? "Roast" as in the English word, "Ch" as in Chmelík, the surname of the entire team at the time.

"Hospitality is about making people happy. Guests should leave in a better mood than when they arrived," explains Filip Kopecký. He has always enjoyed working with interesting people and preparing select coffees, gaining experience in various gastronomic establishments until he became co-owner of the Chroast select coffee roastery in Hradec Králové.

Great smell right out of the box
I really enjoyed the taste, the notes of wildness just right and at the same time very sweet.
One of the nicest grains I've had on the grinder so far. (Otherwise they are really huge and I had to set the grinder quite fine)
