We’re excited to introduce a new release from the renowned Berlin roastery The Barn — Buena Vista Sidra coffee, a true rarity of this season. This lot comes from the very first harvest of the Sidra variety at this farm, which took place in 2025. In the cup, the coffee will immediately enchant you with its complex and elegant aromareminiscent of jasmine, chamomile, and wild berries. The flavor profile is full of tropical sweetness with dominant notes of mango and raspberry, accompanied by the freshness of lemon. The long-lasting aftertaste evokes sweet vanilla and creamy caramel, making every sip an unforgettable experience for lovers of naturally processed coffees.
This coffee comes from the Fraijanes region of Guatemala, specifically from the farm of experienced producer Fredy Orantes in the Santa Rosa area. Fredy is a recognized leader in coffee cultivation who focuses on sustainability and biodiversity; on his farm, he maintains a rich variety of trees, from grevilleas to various fruit species, and uses organic fertilizer made from coffee pulp. Sidra coffee trees grow at an altitude of 1,870 meters, which contributes to the beans’ high sweetness and medium, balanced acidity. The entire cultivation and harvesting process is carried out with the utmost care for the surrounding nature; the farm remains unfenced so that animals can move freely.
The exceptional character of the beans is enhanced by precise natural processing. After very careful hand-picking, during which only the ripest cherries are selected, the coffee is placed in clean bags for fermentation lasting approximately 48 hours. It is this step that highlights its fruity profile. Fredy then spreads the coffee out on raised beds positioned to make the best use of the abundant sunshine in the Fraijanes region. The beans are dried here for 22 days and are turned regularly and frequently, ensuring a thorough and consistent drying process, which is key to the resulting clarity and quality in the cup.
