MIKIYAS BOGALE from the Prague roastery Tribes of Mokha is a light, lightly roasted natural coffee from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. Tribes of Mokha is best known for its Yemeni coffee, but this Ethiopian coffee shows that they know how to look elsewhere and bring back something exceptional. In the cup, you’ll detect notes of raspberries and orange blossom, with an elegant hint of oolong tea gradually unfolding in the background. Thanks to its natural processing, it has moderate acidity, a pleasant, juicy body, and a rich sweetness.

The coffee comes from the Idido area in the Yirgacheffe region, at an elevation of 2, 000 to 2,200 meters above sea level, where small-scale growers collaborate with farmer Mikiyas Bogale. Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe is one of the most prestigious coffee-growing regions in the world, where high altitude, rich soil, and cool nights create conditions rarely found elsewhere. Heirloom varieties, which have adapted to the local environment over generations, are responsible for the coffee’s characteristic floral and fruity notes. This is precisely why Ethiopian specialty coffee enjoys such a strong reputation worldwide.

The coffee cherries used for MIKIYAS BOGALE undergo natural processing and are dried whole on raised African drying beds. This traditional Ethiopian method highlights the coffee’s juicy sweetness and fruity body. A light roast then preserves the delicacy of the profile. If you enjoy very light roasts and like to brew your coffee by hand using a filter, MIKIYAS BOGALE will be perfect for you. Savor its raspberry-like juiciness, the aroma of orange blossom, and the subtle notes of oolong tea in the background.
