Ethiopia Karmachi GESHA is a coffee from the Gesha region of Ethiopia, home to one of the most famous coffee varieties in the world. It will captivate you with its distinctly sweet aroma and medium-bodied, tea-like creaminess. On the palate, you’ll find notes of pears, plums, and peaches, complemented by a subtle fruity fermentation. The aftertaste reveals notes of black tea and orange peel, while floral, spicy, and slightly raisin-like notes add further complexity to the cup. This Gesha is perfect for pour-over brewing. It is elegant, layered, and full of fruit.
This coffee comes from the Gesha region, which gave the Gesha variety its name. It was from here, in the 1930s, that its seeds made their way via research stations in Africa and Costa Rica all the way to Panama, where it later became a global legend. Karmachi Farm was established in 2019 with the goal of restoring the attention this region and the original Gesha variety deserve. Gori Gesha coffee trees grow here in volcanic soil at an elevation of approximately 1, 600 meters. This is not a variety reimported from Panama, but rather the original Ethiopian branch of Gesha, cultivated directly in the land of its origins.
The 2026 cherries were selectively hand-picked and sorted, then processed using the carbonic maceration method. In this process, fermentation takes place in a controlled environment, which helps develop intense fruity and fermented notes while maintaining the clarity of the cup. The result is a complex and elegant filter coffee with a medium body, pronounced sweetness, and flavors reminiscent of berries and tropical fruits, raisins, flowers, and spices. Ethiopia Karmachi GESHA is thus not only an exceptional coffee but also a return of one of the most famous varieties to the place where its story began.
