Duwancho Honey from Tanat Coffee is an Ethiopian pour-over coffee that is sweet, fragrant, and beautifully smooth. In the cup, notes of jasmine, citrus, apricot, and panela come together, offering a combination of floral lightness, fresh fruitiness, and a pleasant sugary sweetness. It has medium acidity, a silky body, and a light roast that highlights its fragrant, clean, and elegant character. If you’re looking for a pour-over that’s delicate but definitely not boring, Duwancho is exactly the cup you’ll want to brew slowly and with joy.

The coffee comes from Ethiopia, from the Sidama region, where the Duwancho Washing Station is located. According to Tanat Coffee, this station is among the highest in the country, and it is precisely the high altitude, combined with the local climate, that helps the coffee cherries develop a distinctive sweetness. The cooperative was founded in 2019 by small local producers, and its name refers to a shrub native to the area. In 2021, the station upgraded its equipment with new drying beds, which significantly improved the coffee’s quality, opened the door to the international market, and earned it competition awards.

Processing is done using the honey method, which imparts sweetness, depth, and a delicately fruity character to the coffee. This lot uses the 74112 and 74158 varieties, which, in combination with the processing method, beautifully highlight the aroma and clarity of the cup. The honey process leaves a portion of the sweet layer from the cherry on the bean during drying, allowing the coffee to appear fuller and sweeter than a classic washed profile. The result is a very fragrant filter coffee with notes of jasmine, citrus, apricot, and panela, which retains its smoothness, juiciness, and a long, sweet finish.
