From the high mountain region of Arbegona in Ethiopia comes Duwancho, a coffee that embodies the elegance and purity of traditional washed Ethiopian Landrace. Sey Coffee Roasters considers it one of their most distinctive lots of the season. In the cup , you will find notes of melon, honeydew melon , and jasmine, supported by a delicate floral acidity and creamy body. Grown at an altitude of 2,300 meters above sea level, this coffee is like summer air over the Ethiopian hills!
The Duwancho processing station , located in the Chericho area of Arbegona, is one of the highest in Ethiopia. Its production has long remained in the shadow of the better-known Bensa region, but in recent years it has been gaining increasing recognition. Among other things, this is thanks to its successes in the Ethiopian Cup of Excellence. It is here that some of the most complex and vibrant coffees Ethiopia has to offer are produced. The combination of high altitude, careful harvesting, and dense, small beans results in a cup with wonderful depth and a floral character typical of this region.
The cherries are picked by hand at the peak of ripeness, then floated to remove defects and subsequently pulped. The densest beans are separated as Grade 1, fermented for 36 hours under water, and finally dried for 10-14 days on African beds until they reach the ideal moisture content. This washed process ensures the coffee has exceptional clarity, a jasmine aroma, and a juicy fruit profile that perfectly captures the magic of the Ethiopian terroir.
