The coffee beans come from the Bekele Yetute family, who farm in the Bensa region. Although Ethiopia is the cradle of Arabica, buying green coffee directly from small farmers is very difficult here. Thanks to a support project focused on processing and direct sales of coffee to small producers, this family's more than 30 years of experience in coffee cultivation has been opened up to the world. The result is not only great coffee, but also economic stability for farmers and their community. This allows them to focus on what is most important – quality production and care for every coffee bean.
The coffee grows at an altitude of 2,150 meters above sea level in the shade of native forests and local trees, which ensures slower ripening of the cherries and greater complexity of flavor. Handpicking is a tradition here that has been passed down for generations—each cherry is carefully selected to meet high quality standards. Processing is done using the natural method, i.e. drying whole cherries in the sun, which gives the coffee distinctive fruity notes, a full body, and a typical sweetness. It is thanks to this method and the careful work of the farmers that a coffee is created that retains the character of the wild Ethiopian nature – now conveniently available in capsules for everyday enjoyment.
