Friedhats roastery presents YACUANQUER coffee with an exceptional story and ethical dimension. You will be greeted by a delicate and harmonious profile that builds on the classic elegance of Colombian Arabica. You can look forward to clean fruity notes of nectarine, balanced acidity reminiscent of lemon zest, and a delicate sweetness of vanilla cream that lingers pleasantly. But this coffee is about much more than just taste – it is proof that even in an industry as demanding as coffee, it is possible to do things differently, fairly and with respect for everyone involved.
The beans come from the Yacuanquer region in southern Colombia, specifically from farms involved in the Pickers Project, which was established in collaboration between the organizations Manos al Grano and Azahar Coffee. This project brings together 20 farms and a team of 35 professional pickers who, unlike most seasonal workers, are guaranteed decent working conditions, fair wages, and social security. In an environment where seasonal hiring is often irregular and unstable, this model represents a breakthrough. It allows farmers to rely on skilled workers while creating a sustainable and fair working culture in the region.
The coffee was processed using the classic washed method, which highlights its purity and delicacy. Thanks to careful hand-picking of only perfectly ripe cherries and thorough processing in water tanks, the coffee acquires a clean, sparkling profile in which all the natural flavors of the variety stand out. Drying on raised beds then gives the beans stability and consistent quality. Yacuanquer is not only a beautifully balanced coffee with provenance, but also a contribution to a better future for the entire supply chain – from the picker to your cup.
