Baratza engineers utilized a micro and macro adjustment mechanism, which they adapted and simplified for easier and more intuitive handling. The first 20 clicks of the Encore ESP’s adjustment allow for micro-adjustments suitable specifically for espresso, while the next 20 clicks allow for larger macro-adjustments that cover the rest of the grind size range. The result is an intuitive adjustment mechanism that makes switching between different brewing methods a breeze.
The 54 mm diameter dosing cup (and the included 58 mm diameter adapter ring) make it easy to transfer ground coffee directly into the portafilter, resulting in less mess and an even distribution that’s ready for tamping! Fits most home espresso machine portafilter baskets. Use the included scoop to measure the ground coffee and transfer it to the portafilter for espresso, and for other brewing methods, swap it out for a standard dosing tray.
Baratza has even included its M2 40mm conical burrin this excellent mechanism for maximum flavor excellence. Carefully manufactured in Europe, it delivers the consistent and precise grind needed for espresso and all other brewing methods. Among other things, the coffee grinder’s conical burr can be easily removed without tools, making cleaning and maintenance a breeze.
A powerful, high-torque DC motor effortlessly drives the grinder’s entire internal mechanism. This motor rotates slowly, resulting in cooler and quieter operation and allowing for long grinding cycles. The circuit is equipped with an automatically resetting thermal switch. This thermal overload protection safeguards the motor against overheating due to excessive use. It also ensures a smooth flow of beans to the grinding discs.
An innovative grinder calibration system ensures that each grinder is ready to grind for most portafilter baskets in home coffee makers. If necessary, the grinders can be calibrated by the user.
