Twenty Eight is a Hungarian specialty roaster that treats coffee as a full-fledged experience—not a routine, but a passion. It was born out of a deep interest in taste, origin, and detail, and appeals to anyone looking for balanced, clear, yet complex cups. The name of the roastery is no coincidence: "28 seconds is our direction" refers to the precision with which Twenty Eight approaches coffee and the search for the ideal balance in taste.

Behind the brand is Hernyák Gábor, who came to coffee relatively late in life – but his journey was all the more intense for it. He first encountered specialty coffee during his stay in England, from where his steps led him to Budapest. Here he started working as a barista, quickly absorbing knowledge, and in 2019 he won the Hungarian Brewers Cup, thanks to which he represented Hungary at the World Championships in Boston. He then worked in a micro roastery in the position of sales and quality control. In 2023, he was given the opportunity to start his own project, Twenty Eight, where he can manage the entire process from the selection of green coffee to the final roasting without compromise.

Twenty Eight's mission is clear: no compromises in quality. The roastery's identity is based on the careful selection of green coffee —only lots that truly inspire are included in the offer. There is no playing with trends or mandatory items in the assortment; if the coffee does not bring the "wow effect," it simply will not be purchased. Roasting is carried out in such a way as to enhance the natural character of the beans, their terroir and complexity, whether it is espresso or filter coffee. The same philosophy is reflected in the recipes, where the emphasis is on balance, purity and clarity of flavor.

The founder's professional background and competition experience are reflected in the recognition that Twenty Eight has earned in the coffee community. Winning the national Brewers Cup and participating in the world championship are strong proof of know-how, precision, and a deep understanding of coffee. Twenty Eight is thus one of those roasters that build respect not only through marketing, but above all through consistent quality in the cup.
