At the Kaizen roastery in Poland, they discovered a coffee that is grown at an altitude of 1,800–2,200 meters above sea level and can transform an ordinary morning into a small ritual. Itumpi PB comes from Tanzania, and its flavor will transport you to the hills of Kilimanjaro with the very first sip. Fruity notes of raspberry and blackcurrant combine with a subtle hint of black tea. Thanks to the light roast designed for filter brewing, all these flavors develop beautifully, whether you use a V60, Chemex, pour-over, or Aeropress. This is a coffee that will surprise you with its freshness while pleasantly warming you up.
Behind it is the Itumpi AMCOS cooperative , which was founded in the 1970s as a small community called Ujamaa and had only 56 members at the time. They gradually grew, survived market changes and the difficult period of the 1990s. Today, they bring together over 160 farmers from surrounding villages. Each of them brings only the best of what they have grown on their land to the processing station, and this results in coffee that bears the imprint of their collective work and story. Itumpi AMCOS is not just about growing coffee, it is a way of keeping the community alive, supporting families and caring for the land that provides them all with a livelihood.
The processing here is incredibly meticulous. After being picked in the afternoon, the fresh coffee cherries are brought to the station, where they are pulped on a depulper from 2 p.m. until late at night. This is followed by sorting in channels according to density, which separates the unripe beans. They are then soaked in clean water for 8–10 hours. Only then is the parchment spread out on African beds, where it dries for 7–10 days under the hot African sun. This fully washed process preserves the coffee's purity, clear fruity tones, and delicate tea aftertaste, giving it an elegant and balanced character.
