Red Brick is an iconic espresso blend from Square Mile that constantly evolves with the seasons. This year’s version combines two carefully selected lots from Brazil and Colombia, creating a balanced flavor profile full of sweetness and fruity freshness. The first sip reveals notes of red apple and dates, which smoothly transition into a velvety caramel body with delicate almond nuances. Precision roasting enhances the fullness and creamy texture, making Red Brick a perfect choice for both espresso and milk-based drinks.
The Brazilian component of the blend comes from the Sul de Minas region and makes up 46% of the total blend. The beans – varieties Bourbon, Catuaí, Catucaí, and Mundo Novo – are sourced from the farms Fazenda Barreiro, Sitio Barra, Fazenda Recanto, and Fazenda Rosa Branca. These farms are among the top producers of naturally processed Brazilian coffee, known for its intense sweetness, nutty notes, and creamy mouthfeel. This year, the family-run Fazenda Barreiro, managed by father and son Francisco and Manuel Lotufo, joined the group of contributors.
The second component of the blend is a 54% share of the Colombian lot El Meridiano from the Tolima region. This exclusive blend for Square Mile is produced by 36 small-scale farmers in partnership with the export company Caravela. The coffee is washed processed, giving it clarity and a vibrant fruity acidity that contrasts beautifully with the sweetness of the Brazilian beans. Thanks to precise fermentation and careful drying in the Herrera region, the coffee develops a juicy brightness and forest fruit notes that perfectly complement the caramel richness of the Brazilian component. The result is a timeless blend that, with every new version, brings an even better flavor experience.
