About Momos Coffee

Momos Coffee is the gold standard of coffee in Busan. It is also home to Jooyeon Jeon, who became the 2019 World Barista Championships. Founded in 2007, Momos Coffee has become one of the largest specialty coffee brands in South Korea. From just 140 square meters, the operation today includes a barista academy, more than 50 employees, a two-story cafe with a bakery and nationwide coffee distribution.

The journey of Momos Coffee started in a small space in 2007. Jooyeon Jeon and Jeongsoo Pak had almost no experience in the coffee world. In the beginning, they promised themselves that they would honestly do the basic thing — coffee. Thanks to patience, a handful of regular customers have become a coffee community, connected by coffee and life stories.

“During roasting, we focus on ensuring that the resulting cup of coffee is clean and balanced while expressing the unique flavors that different regions, terroirs and varieties bring. We want to provide our customers with a rich experience,” say the founders of the roastery, Jooyeon and Jeongsoo. When choosing coffee, they emphasize good relationships with producers, which they have built up over the years. A fair assessment is also a matter of course. Based on the characteristics of the individual lot of coffee, they then adjust the roasting.

The slogan — Specialty for all — is still followed. In order to really reach the widest possible range of consumers, they created coffee capsules. "With the increase in coffee consumption and the gradual development of technology in the coffee industry, the time has come when consumers can enjoy coffee more easily and conveniently. [...] We decided that capsule coffee would lower the entry barrier for specialty coffee and make it an accessible way for the public to enjoy coffee more conveniently, which is why we introduced Momos Coffee in capsules."
