The Kaganda cooperative is located in the central province of Murarandia, near the town of Muranga. It was founded in 1970 and spans 5 acres of land, serving the surrounding villages – Gathiru, Gathaithi, Gathambara, Gatuongo, and Kagaa. Kaganda currently has 1050 members, and the most unique aspect of this cooperative is that it is situated in a valley within the tea-growing region. After harvest, all the coffee is transported to the processing station, where it is processed exclusively using the washed method. The necessary water for washing and fermentation is pumped using a diesel pump from the Dam reservoir.
After harvest, the coffee cherries undergo the traditional washed method, which enhances the freshness and clarity of the flavors. The cherries are first subjected to a floating process to remove unripe and damaged fruits. They are then depulped and left for 18 hours in fermentation tanks, where the remaining mucilage naturally separates. After fermentation, the beans are dried in the sun and carefully sorted. This process allows both the fruity and sweet notes to shine, making the Kenya Kaganda AA coffee one you will fall in love with.
