Ethiopia Guji Qalaa is a sweet, richly fruity, and perfectly fragrant coffee that will appeal to every fan of natural batches. It comes from the Haro Sorsa region in western Guji and offers a flavor profile full of blueberries, blackberry jam, and marzipan. Thanks to its natural sweetness, juiciness, and velvety body, it also excels as an espresso—an intense experience full of Ethiopian elegance with a blueberry twist awaits you in your cup.
This exceptional coffee was created in collaboration with the export company Glitter Trading and Logistics PLC, which is based in Haro Sorsa and brings together more than 450 small farmers. The coffee trees here grow at an altitude of 2,200–2,400 meters above sea level, in red clay soil and a cool mountain climate – the ideal environment for growing the select Heirloom variety. Production takes place without chemical inputs, in accordance with traditional organic farming, often in the company of false banana trees, which provide shade and enrich the soil. The most interesting lot, called Hambela, Haro Sorsa, is made up of the harvest of 250 farmers, each of whom grows about 300 kg of coffee per year.
Natural processing takes place directly at the harvest site – the cherries are hand-picked, sorted, and dried for 12–15 days on raised African beds, where they are regularly turned for even drying. After drying, the beans are hulled and stored until they are ready for export. The entire process is carried out with an emphasis on quality and respect for the community – farmers have access to pre-financing, receive quality bonuses, and some of them are provided with advance support for farm operations. Glitter Trading is also actively involved in the development of local education – it provides children with school supplies and supports education in the area.
