La Papaya is an Ecuadorian coffee that combines elegance, freshness, and deep sweetness that you will only find in the most carefully processed coffees. The first thing you notice is the juicy lime acidity – clean, distinctive, but beautifully integrated. This is immediately followed by the soft sweetness of peach, which gradually transitions into a silky, almost tea-like texture. The aftertaste is delicate, with light floral notes and a subtle freshness reminiscent of cold green tea with a citrus twist. The whole profile is highly elegant, clean and yet pleasantly playful – it's exactly the type of coffee you'll want in the morning to wake up your senses and in the afternoon when you want to slow down and just enjoy.

The coffee comes from the Hacienda La Papaya farm, run by renowned producer Juan Peña in the Saraguro region of Ecuador. Juan is one of the most prominent figures in the contemporary Ecuadorian coffee world – he originally worked as a florist, but after losing his crop during a frosty period, he threw himself into coffee cultivation with incredible precision. On his farm, each batch receives detailed agronomic care – from precise shading and cherry ripeness control to laboratory testing. Thanks to this scientific approach, Juan has been able to get the best out of the Typica Mejorado variety, which is the result of genetic selection: sweetness, acidity, and purity in perfect harmony.

Processing is carried out using a washed method, which Juan has mastered in detail. The cherries are carefully sorted by hand, fermented under controlled conditions and then washed with clean mountain water. Drying takes place slowly, with each step carefully monitored to ensure that the resulting flavor is as pure and balanced as possible. It is this attention to detail that creates a coffee that is not only pleasant to the taste but also exceptionally stable across different preparation methods – great in a V60, Kalita or batch brew, and even as a cold brew on hot days. La Papaya will simply never cease to delight you.

The coffee is very fresh, acidic, and delicate at the same time.
I can taste honey, flowers, and fruit tea.
If you like strong, bitter coffee, you probably won't be too thrilled.
