The Casino Mocca roastery brings you exceptional coffee from Burundi that will enchant you with its unique flavor profile. This coffee boasts flavors of rosehip, lime, and cane sugar, which combine to create a harmonious and refreshing whole. Thanks to spontaneous fermentation and a washed processing method, it retains a purity and smoothness that will delight your senses. The coffee is grown at an altitude of 1,500 to 1,800 meters above sea level, which gives it specific characteristics that every lover of specialty coffee will appreciate.
The Masha farm is located in the commune of Gihororo in the province of Kayanza and was founded in 1989. This area is known for its ideal conditions for growing coffee. Masha has more than 2,000 registered farmers spread across the surrounding hills. Coffee cultivation is widespread in Burundi, but each small farmer produces a relatively small amount of coffee. The average farmer has about 250 trees, most of which grow in their gardens. Each tree yields about 1.5 kilograms of cherries, which means that the average producer sells about 200-300 kilograms of cherries per year.
To ensure high coffee quality and fair conditions for farmers, Masha and other stations owned by Greenco have set up 12 collection centers. These centers allow farmers to reach wet mills up to nine kilometers away without compromising quality. Thanks to these collection centers, farmers can sell their cherries directly, without intermediaries, which ensures them better purchase prices and a stable income. This approach promotes sustainability and the development of the local community, which is extremely important to us at Masha.
