The Wacaco Prestina is a compact filter coffee maker that lets you brew a great cup of coffee at home, at work, or on the go. It requires no electricity or paper filters, and the entire system is designed to fit into a single small package. What’s particularly interesting is the filtration method. The cup itself acts as a plunger, which you use to press the coffee through a stainless steel microfilter after brewing.
The permanent stainless-steel filter allows the natural coffee oils to pass through, so the resulting beverage has a fuller body than when using a traditional paper filter. Plus, you don’t have to worry about buying or carrying around disposable filters. Preparation is simple. Pour approximately 15 g of medium-ground coffee into the Prestina, add about 240 ml of hot water, stir, and let it steep for two minutes. Then simply slide the cup into the coffee maker’s body and let the coffee filter directly into it.
The entire set weighs only 254 g, and the individual parts fit together neatly when packed. Inside, you’ll find a coffee maker, a cup, a stainless steel filter, a measuring spoon with a stirrer, a lid, and a drip tray. This makes the Prestina ideal for travel, the office, or anywhere you want to brew filtered coffee without a lot of equipment. All you need is ground coffee and hot water.
