The Orea O2, also known as the “Big Baby O, ” is a modern, one-piece flat-bottom dripper. It’s essentially the bigger sibling of the pocket-sized Orea O1 model. This dripper is known for providing a fast brew, making it particularly well-suited for preparing fruitier coffees, where it really highlights their clarity and juiciness. It also stands out for delivering a consistent flavor in the resulting cups.
Orea’s New System
A flow regulator was also designed specifically for this dripper, allowing you to adjust the speed at which water flows through the coffee grounds. This allows you to control the extraction time when brewing coffee and even convert it into an immersion dripper—that is, to block the water flow for a period of your choosing, thereby extending the time the water and coffee remain in contact.
Preparation Flexibility
With this dripper, you can use either wave-style or flat-bottom filters, depending on your preference. Wave filters used with this dripper offer faster extraction and a cleaner-tasting cup, while flat filters are better suited for sweeter and fuller-bodied cups. You can brew up to 460 ml of coffee at once, with a ground coffee capacity of up to 32 g.
