Uncompromising. This is the Kinu M47 Phoenix hand grinder . It is the youngest and lightest sibling of Kinu mills. Kinu is a German company that has made it their mission to produce hand grinders that can match or even surpass their competitors.

The body is made of stainless steel which makes the grinder very durable. On top we find a plastic hopper that can hold up to 40 grams of coffee beans. The bottom container, made of food-grade plastic, is held in place by a rubber O-ring. The grinding stones are 47 mm long (hence the name M47) and made of steel. The coarseness setting is infinitely variable and can be changed really by the micrometer. The axis of the handle is placed between the ball bearings, which makes grinding easier and more precise.

Features:

  • Easy and consistent grinding
  • Ball bearings for better crank action
  • Micrometric coarseness adjustment
  • Silicone grip for better grip
  • Plastic centre axis attachment
  • Capacity up to 40 g
  • EVA travel hard case included

I bought the hand grinder primarily for the Cafelat Robot. But it is also suitable for use on AP. You can buy another stove for coarser grinding on the filter. The calibration of the grind and processing is perfect. Compared to the Classic, plastic on the top, bottom and inside, I don't think it's a bad thing. Savings of CZK 4,000. The quality of the grind will be the same. Grinding speed 14g 20-25 seconds. Unbelievable. A direct comparison with the C40 offers a finer calibration, and the narrower body is easier to hold in smaller hands. Coffee from both grinders has a different structure and taste (AeroPress). I also have a grinder from Rhinowares and grind them there for 2-3 minutes approx.
The mill is not suitable for self-guided nature trips
It is not possible to replace the internal stove (C40 has an internal stove on screws) here it is pressed or glued
They want 700 Kc for a plastic cap for 2 spare packs
It could be a transport case
