Funky Matcha’s ceremonial matcha comes from the Uji region in Kyoto Prefecture, one of Japan’s most famous regions for the production of high-quality green tea. The flavor is distinctly umami, complemented by a natural herbal sweetness and a smooth, creamy finish. Thanks to its fuller body, you can enjoy it traditionally with just water, but it also works well in matcha lattes.
Only tencha leaves from the first spring harvest, ichiban-cha, are used in its production. The tea plants are shaded before harvest, which limits sunlight exposure and promotes the development of the flavor typical of high-quality matcha. After harvesting and processing into tencha, the leaves are slowly ground into a fine powder using traditional stone mills. This matcha is single-origin, meaning it comes from one specific growing region: Uji in Japan.
To prepare, sift 1 to 2 g of matcha into a warmed bowl, add approximately 70 ml of water at a temperature of 70 to 80 °C, and whisk with a chasen in a W-shaped motion until a smooth, fine foam forms.
The package contains 30 g of matcha in a resealable container with an inner protective pouch.
Note:
- Store in a cool, dry place away from light and strong odors
