Funky is a flavorful capsule espresso from the Czech roaster Doubleshot, which retains its juicy and exotic character even in the form of capsules for the Nespresso Original system. In your cup, you can expect a delicate, lively acidity, a creamy body, and a playful combination of ripe strawberries, forest fruits, and vanilla. The espresso is sweet, clean, and fun, without heaviness or bitterness, and works great on its own or as a quick energy boost during the day. It is a coffee with personality that does not deny its origins, even in capsule form.
The coffee comes from Panama, specifically from the Volcancito Arriba area in the Boquete region, from the Los Lajones and Emporium farms, which belong to the legendary producer Graciano Cruz. It was Graciano who stood at the very birth of the Doubleshot roastery more than fifteen years ago, and their collaboration continues to this day. The farms are located at high altitudes of 1,600–2,000 meters above sea level and are among the highest in Central America. Catuaí, Typica, Geisha, and Pacamara varieties are grown here, and both farms are also the first certified organic farms in Panama. Great emphasis is placed on fair conditions for pickers, most of whom come from the Ngöbe-Buglé ethnic group.
The processing of this coffee is based on the philosophy of Graciano Cruz, a long-time advocate of dry and honey processing without the use of water. The Catuaí variety undergoes anaerobic dry fermentation and subsequent slow drying on African beds, which preserves its high sweetness, purity, and fruity flavor structure. Precise control of fermentation and drying is the key to the resulting sparkling cup with its typical fruitiness and delicate chocolate notes. In addition, the capsules are made from renewable bioplastic and are fully compostable, so you can enjoy your espresso with a clear conscience, not only because of its taste, but also because of its sustainability.
