About Laura coffee

The story called Laura Coffee did not start as a childhood dream or a continuation of a family tradition. It is not even a long-planned project that had a clearly defined plan and strategy. It all started with the love of food, cooking and coffee in the family circle. The company was named after the older daughter Laura.

The coffee journey began as innocently as the first thought of owning a roaster. And that with the coffee and cappuccino preparation course, which the founder and owner Ivo completed in 2010. He became a home barista and felt that he had to spread his acquired experience further. And so he started holding his own home coffee classes. During them, he gained confidence and in 2012 opened the first cafe within the Viva coworking center. It was not at all as rosy as the charts and plans showed. But that didn't deter Ivo and he bought the first 2 kg Novoroaster roaster! This day, November 21, 2012, went down in history and became the official date of the company's foundation. But none of this would have happened without the help of the family and father Josef.

This year was also important for the Barista Cup Ostrava project. The idea of organizing an event for baristas arose spontaneously, not to build a big event. But over time, BCO has become such a part of Laura Coffee that the festival is held every year!

Even after a year, great success did not come, but Ivo's determination and love for coffee kept him afloat. The next step was to go out into the "world" with a coffee shop (mobile cafe). First for events, and then to open one at Ostrava's Svinov railway station. It has been working in the rain, winter, and tropics since 2014. Over time, specifically in 2018, we replaced the coffee maker with a more durable coffee cube.

There was no going back. Laura was no longer just one person, but passionate baristas and employees. It was time to buy a bigger roaster, and it happened in 2017, when Ivo and his father Jozef went all the way to South Korea to get it. Hence more and better grains! This meant not standing in one place and opening another branch. This time a bistro near Makra called kafeBistro. The opening took place in the spring of 2019.

In the meantime, the headquarters and cafe in Hrabůvka became independent and underwent renovation. The entire redesign, including the one in the bistro, was handled by the Wood and London studio, which belongs to great people and partners Kačka and Vladimír.

During the pandemic, we managed to survive and open a branch in the Ostrava ZOO, which made both us and the visitors happy.

Nothing has stopped us and nothing will stop us. Laura Coffee has a 10-year anniversary, a big celebration and a lot of roasted and drunk coffee. What's next? Coffee and more coffee.
