Minimalistic design
it doesn't attach well to the Hario Buono kettle - so it measures the temperature of the wall, not the water
it goes off during use, no point in having it in the kettle while cooking
sometimes i feel like the thermometer is guessing the temperature and other times i have a better day
it only measures the current situation, it is not a gradual measurement

Illuminated numbers, visible in the morning darkness
The accuracy of temperature measurement is poor, or at least debatable. With constant heating, the temperature jumps here and there, fluctuates and rises again. It seems like the thermometer doesn't really know, but only guesses the temperature. For example, at one point during heating it measures 86.5, then drops to 85.3 and again "flashes" straight to 86.7. One and a half degrees is no longer a tolerable deviation and I can never rely on what it shows with such accuracy. When a thermometer can't measure, there's not much to praise.
Cannot set the alarm to a specific temperature
When compared to the older Rhinowares digital thermometer, it simply shows the temperature, and incorrectly at that. So I would rather recommend the aforementioned Rhinowares, where you can still set the desired water temperature, or a straight kettle with adjustable heating
